How often do you think about redecorating your home? Or a specific space in your home: the kitchen, the living room, the bedroom…? When considering decorating we tend to think about furniture or accessories, but rarely do we stop to consider walls and floors.
Decoration enthusiasts should know that there is little point in having the latest curtains or bed base if the walls or floor look rundown. An ideal way to keep them looking good is to use coatings. These materials provide both decorative and structural benefits. Let’s look at some different options in terms of materials.
Natural coatings like a stone are very popular. In addition to an elegant aesthetic, other useful characteristics include hardness, resistance and long-lasting durability with no deterioration. This means that maintenance costs are reduced. Walls can either be covered with natural stone (e.g. limestone, slate, quartzite or marble) or the same rustic effect can be recreated by perfectly imitating the reliefs, tones and textures of stone. For this type of material Omar Coatings offers two product ranges: POLIMAR and UVEMAR. POLIMAR products are used for preventing cracks in natural stone during cutting and polishing operations, and as a glue to cover and reinforce imperfections in marble. As for UVEMAR products, they achieve a perfect seal, modifying the surface characteristics to improve resistance to scratching, abrasion and chemicals.

Ceramic has a classic appearance, but it is also highly resistant and very easy to clean. That is why it is still one of the most requested coatings, particularly for spaces such as the bathroom or kitchen, since it does not absorb moisture. There are many different finishes, designs, colours and shapes available. We recommend using our UVECRIL CER products on this material. This is our UV curable coating which provides a glossy topcoat for ceramic tiles, creating a soft and silky finish and increasing hardness.
Microcement is a material used for walls, floors and ceilings, both indoor and outdoor, which has become very fashionable in recent years. As it is a continuous coating it is waterproof, easy to clean, adheres easily and does not need joints. There is also a wide range of colours and textures available to choose from. Many of our products can be used with this type of coating, but we would recommend that you try one of the following product ranges: HIDROMAR POLYURETHANE, PARQUEPOL V NA or OMARCRIL ADB. HIDROMAR POLYURETHANE is a water-based finish suitable for interior and exterior varnishing of decorative microcement floors, stamped cement, concrete, wood, etc. PARQUEPOL V NA provides the material with a number of great properties, such as anti-yellowing, filling capacity, increased hardness and good durability. Finally, OMARCRIL ADB is an acrylic finish that does not yellow and makes the material highly resistant to outdoor elements and hydrolysis. This product is available in transparent finishes, in a variety of glosses, or in a pigmented finish, in a wide range of colours.
Wood cladding is very versatile as it can be used in both traditional and contemporary styles. It is often considered for the latest trendy creations due to its versatility, beauty, and affordable prices. It has been used for many years, on both indoor and outdoor designs. Wood allows flexibility in terms of finishes and is also a renewable and recyclable natural resource. In addition to being a good thermal and acoustic insulator, it is particularly effective at providing warmth. Its diverse range of colour shades provides great possibilities for decoration.
Because of its properties, wood as a material is very susceptible to changes in humidity, temperature and solar radiation, which is why it is important to know how to choose the right species and the most suitable treatment when we are going to use it outdoors. As such, at Omar Coatings we recommend covering it with one of our wood varnishes, as we have a wide range of both exterior and interior varnishes; water and solvent based; polyurethane, polyester, 2K acrylic, 1K acrylic, UV products.
In the world of coatings there are thousands of models and designs on the market, and the vast majority can be coated with materials from Omar Coatings.
